My name is Feanna Jattan-Singh, I was born in Fayetteville, NC, in 1982, to parents who immigrated from Trinidad & Tobago, both of whom served in the US Army. My upbringing involved active participation in our family business, J’s Minimart. After graduating from Red Springs High School in the class of 2000, I pursued my higher education at Johnson & Wales University. I earned my Associate Degree in Business Administration in 2002, followed by my Bachelor’s Degree in International Business in 2003, while also venturing into online entrepreneurship.
In 2004, I entered into marriage and relocated to Waltham, MA, where I worked part-time for NAEP, serving as an Assessment Administrator in Boston Public Schools. Subsequent relocations preceded our decision to settle down and purchase a home. It was during this time, in October of 2010, that a friend encouraged me to move to Worcester. Since my arrival, I've become a parent to two more children (having had two prior to moving here). My keen observations revealed significant gaps in our city's infrastructure, particularly the absence of sidewalks on crucial roads like Sunderland Road. For over a decade, I have been a passionate advocate for the installation of sidewalks in this area.
In 2017, I obtained my Real Estate License and in 2018, I became a member of the Realtors Association of Central Mass, a connection I maintained until 2021. This year, I joined the North Shore Realtors Association in September, further enriching my professional network. Additionally, I actively contribute to the Worcester community through my involvement in the Kiwanis Club, an organization dedicated to making a positive impact on local schools, such as Union Hill Elementary and Wawecus Elementary. My commitment to community service extends to my church, Liberty Church, where I recently participated in a transformative trip to Kenya. Alongside my pastor and fellow church members, we served local schools and provided leadership training to pastors and community leaders in the area.
The paramount focus of the City Council must be ensuring the safety and welfare of every resident. This necessitates substantial improvements in our city's infrastructure, including enhanced sidewalks, well-marked crosswalks, and properly maintained roads. Additionally, urgent attention should be directed towards providing housing for the homeless population. We must strive for universal accessibility, accommodating individuals using wheelchairs, bikes, and various modes of transportation. Furthermore, vital mental health services should be readily available, with counselors accessible at public spaces like libraries and police stations,
